When organizing a specific area, such as a closet, dresser drawer, or bathroom cabinet, take time to refresh the space. The following steps will help ensure that the space is clean and ready for your organizational plan:
1. Empty the space completely.
2. Dust and vacuum to remove debris and wipe down surfaces with a damp cloth.
3. Add any necessary shelves or hooks.
4. Refresh completely by painting it a fresh color.
Once the surface areas have been completely cleaned and refreshed, you can add final touches such as shelf liners or storage baskets. Add lavender or cedar sachets to drawers and cabinets to keep everything fresh and to add a touch of Pretty!

Are your possessions earning their keep?
What does that mean?
Well, we pay for the square footage that we live in and our possessions need to earn their keep if they are going to inhabit our valuable real estate.
It's hard to know where to put something if you don't know WHY you have it or HOW you use it. When you begin to organize, CHOOSE to determine the function of each item before keeping it and finding the perfect home for it. Ask yourself the following questions when trying to determine if the item is truly needed:
- When was the last time I used it?
- What do I use it for?
- Will I miss it if it's gone?
- Can I repurpose this item?
- If I decide I need it in the future, can I replace it easily?
Asking these questions can make it easier to let things go, or to find the perfect place for them once their value in your life has been determined.
Unless your storage options are endless we have to CHOOSE what we will keep in our highly prized spaces.
This exercise will determine if your possessions are earning their keep!
