“Don’t judge a book by it's cover.” That well-known saying is meant to encourage people to look past the surface because it’s human nature to judge based on appearances. But the fact is that many people do judge others based on appearances, despite this good advice.
Of course, those with deeper minds can eventually look past first impressions and see the real you. But in this competitive hyper-active world that so often focuses on first impressions, why not remove any negatives out of the appearance equation and give yourself an advantage that others so often overlook? Since so many people—including busy employers—do judge a book by its cover, I’d like to help you with creating your personal brand.
What Is Branding?
The clothes you wear are the cover to your “book.” How you present yourself can attract and interest people or it can repel and cause them to dismiss you. Why? Because your personal “brand” is your outward expression of how you see yourself, and this immediately shapes what other people think of you—for good or for bad—whether you like it or not.
If you saw someone wearing scrubs, you might assume that person is a doctor or nurse and that you can reasonably expect that they have some medical knowledge. If someone was wearing a pair of navy blue pants with a matching shirt, a hat, and a badge you would rightly assume that person is a policeman (not to mention the gun in his holster).
Both people are easily identified by what they wear. But then again, so are you.
What Does Your Wardrobe Say About You?
What do people see when they look at you? Do they see an executive, a professional, someone reliable, or do they see someone irresponsible, lacking self-esteem, or immature? What you wear speaks volumes about who you are and what people can expect from you.
Ask yourself, what does my wardrobe say about me?
Personally, I want people to feel comfortable around me, but I also want them to know what comes in the Heidi Gammill package. That's why the Nest Pretty mantra is so important to me when I choose my clothes--not just for today but for every day and occasion.
How have those three little questions--Does it fit? Do I love it? Do I feel amazing in it?—helped me? Three ways:
Poise—What I have when my clothes fit me.
Confidence—What I have when I love my wardrobe.
Self-respect—What I gain when I feel amazing in my clothes.
That's why I am so excited to help you organize your life and curate a wardrobe you love. The emotional return is immeasurable, and I want you to feel comfortable in your own skin so that you can show people the real you.
Develop a Personal Brand-How?
You don’t have to be rich, in perfect shape, or a fashionista to have a personal brand. You just have to know two things: who you are and what you want people to know about you. Once you know those things, I can help you to reflect your true identity.
So contact me for a consultation today! Let me help you curate a wardrobe you love--one that inspires in you confidence, poise, and self-respect.
Remember, your style and how you carry yourself will speak louder than your words. So the next time you go into your closet, think about what the cover of your book says about you.
It’s where we celebrate the process of making a beautiful Nest.
It's all about making small choices every day that add up to a beautiful life!
